At the Market
The girls had fun at the market with their Grandpa Luis (abuelito), Aunt Martha, and Aunt Quica. They don't have this in Lake Oswego!

Day 1 at Martha and Antonio's Ranch
On Monday 12/27, we went to their ranch near Matamorelos, which is about an hour outside of town. We arrived in mid-afternoon, and went horseback riding and also did some fishing at their lake. Brittany caught a nice big catfish!! After fishing and horseback riding, we went to their other ranch in Allende to get ready for the fiesta the following day. Pepe and one of the ranch hands worked late into the evening preparing the fire pit and the 2 cow heads. The heads were stuffed with garlic and oregano, and then were wrapped in Maguey leaves (the Maguey plant contains Agave, from which tequila is made). Finally, the heads were lowered into the fire pit, where they will slow cook all night long.

Day 2 at Martha and Antonio's Ranch
On Tuesday 12/28, everyone began arriving at the Allende Ranch at about 3:00 pm. The weather was great. It had really warmed up over the last couple of days. Lots of food and drink. They pulled the beef out of the pit, and soon everyone was eating. Later in the evening, we put cabrito on the grill, and it was ready in ~ 2 hours. Lots of oranges, grapefruit, and manadrins to be picked. Everyone had their fill. Late in the evening, it started getting chilly again. The party ended at ~ 11:00 pm.
